I am trying to get my husband into a rehab that is requiring him to be inpatient for 7-10 days. Then do out-patient from then on. Has anyone ever had to do that before? They do not allow a person to get rehab at their facility with just doctor orders and come just as out-patient.

Rehab is for intense OT,PT, and ST. My husband is very weak. He went so long without eating that it wore him down. He was 245 lb and now 170 in 18 months.

what kind of rehab...and sorry where are you located? It sounds like they want to do an assessment and then work on providing effective treatment that maybe can be done at home as well as hospital...

Call the rehab center and ask?

Yes, my mother was admitted from home, as an in-patient to a neuro-rehabiliation ward. She got amazing help and care that raised her baseline to the optimum it could be, considering her illness, and taught us both techniques that we used for the rest of her life.

Of course, it didn't reverse the symptoms of PSP but it taught us both to make the most of her capabilities for as long as she had them. I do think if you are lucky enough to get the right staff, it might improve your husband's skills and morale.

I visited my mum every day and attended her physio adn OT sessions as often as I could.

Hope this works out as well for you as it did for us,

Amanda.
