Dear Sera1956, I'm so sorry not to be able to offer any help, and trust someone else will chime in with something more useful. I just want to express my concern for you both. What you describe sounds really nightmarish. How long has this been going on? All I can say is that with psp, in my experience and as others have said on this site, the symptoms come and go and change over time and this feeling of your wife's may pass on its own. Is she seeing a neurologist? Easterncedar

Yes she sees a neurologist.it started 6 mos ago and is getting progressively worst.they just shake their heads and say they wish there was something they could do

Delusions are among the side effects listed for levodopa-carbidopa, as is dizziness.

Do the levodopa and carbidopa seem to help? With psp they generally don't, or if they do it's only for a short time. I believe that's one of the ways they know it's psp and not parkinson's disease. There has been some discussion of the side effects of the dopamine drugs on this site. You might find some useful information if you look through past posts on the subject.

Hi,Sera 1956,

Just found your post and wanted to reply.

My husband ,who has CBD kept having the terrifying feeling that he was falling into a hole and sometimes he even thought I was, or that he was on the ceiling instead of the floor....he used to get so frightened until the illusion or feeling passed.

He used to always know when it was going to happen and I would try to distract him...he hasn't had the feeling so much lately, thank goodness....not sure why, though!

You take care now

X

Yes, my wife has a similar feeling. As sense of falling but not like vertigo. We always held hands and that helped, later arms. Unfortunately falls are frequent in PSP and one of the causes of death to PSP patients. One person I know fell and had a brain bleed but survived, lucky. Surgery under anathesia is NOT good for dementia patients either so breaking a hip or ..... is also a bad thing. I started using a transport chair for my Sharyn probably before she really needed it to prevent falls. Jimbo

does she by any chance take a diuretic . I did once and that's what happened. To me as soon as I stopped taking it I was fine .
