What type garments work best when patient is barely mobile? (Woman)
Dear Jim,
For my sister it was mainly gathered longish skirts and generous tops and scarves/shawls.
(Unfortunately the usual undergarments were a major hurdle for which she had to give a miss )
For Susan It took a bit to get used to mentally as she was used to wearing cute figure hugging garb. That was until the gifts of costume jewellery - I can still recall the friendly conversations they generated (and how it thankfully eliminated so many inferences and comments regarding her 'unwellness' for which Sue told me she was so thankful for).

Alana - Western Australia
Sharon, Hospice suggested a long t-shirt or nightgown cut up the back but leaving the neck part attached so it can be placed over the head. Sounds like a good solution as you only have to put the arms in and neckband/part over the head with is easier than pants/shorts/etc. Jimbo
Sounds good. Hospital nurses suggested same for Sue - I found Mens T-shirts more preferable to woman's as they seem to be a more 'realistic' to get on and they're longer.
Regards, Alana. NB Pant/shorts were impossible. With Sue's skirts - I made them for her so they were quite full, a combination of wrap style with elastic along the back - Bali/beach style so she 'sort of' sat on/in them before being dressed. Regards, Alana
Sharon, Thanks, never thought of using my t-shirts but it is difficult to get hers on with any ease. At this point what is easy regardless of look is what we will do. If we aren't having company a top with Depends only then covered with a blanket over the legs worked but we only did that one day. You are right about the shorts. When Sharyn was able to stand shorts were not a problem but this past week she lost the ability to stand. Her decline this past week is very down hill. Keep us in your thoughts please.
