Because my girls' birthday's are less than a year a part-same age for 11 days-both presently 21 years old, I thought it would be fun to buy the 3 of us tickets to see a national comedian, Gabriel Iglesias, at a local Casino last night. I've heard great things about him from the girls, and watched clips on U-Tube; he's hilarious w/o having to get really raunchy.
I started this surprise late April, early May, only to find out both his Fri./Sat. night shows were sold out. I was encouraged to continue to call the box office the closer it got to show time; apparently performers as a common practice buy blocks of the best seats towards the stage and start releasing them the closer the show date is.
I took a chance earlier in May and 'Viola! He released 3 excellent seats mid stage and in the front rows, so I bought 3, keeping my fingers crossed I would feel well enough to go on this adventure because it was quite a long duration adventure.
Unfortunately, I became sicker by the week starting late April, but called the box office and was told the kids could pick them up no problem. The show started @8; they got down there early enough to eat & pick up the tickets. Can't emphasize enough how much my girls adore this comedian. My oldest, Katy, bought upgraded packages for she and her sister so they could meet him after the show. The show was 2 hours long PLUS he did a 45 minute on-core before the meet-and-greet, backstage session even started.
There is no way in Sam Hill I would've been able to participate in an activity of that duration, no matter how funny he was. Katy was a little sad I wasn't going; told her it might not be quite as much fun, but I bet she'd have fun anyway. And, 'Viola; couldn't have worked out any better; it was meant to be.
I uploaded a picture they had taken with him...hoping it sized right...if not, might try it again; so let's keep our fingers crossed and CHEERS to happy endings!

Thanks Jillann; I'm doubly blessed to have them; I've learned more from them in one life time than I would've in 5 life times without them They are my heroes and inspiration.
Hi Judy, Sorry you didn't get to go. It's great to see both your girls with beaming smiles All your hard work paid off in spades. Hope you are doing ok my lovely.
Thanks JoJo. They are something; My Lovelies. Like I said it was meant to be, meaning me staying behind; I couldn't have endured the duration of the drive which is almost an hour, the show + encore, then the meet-greet. It was meant to be because they had such a BLAST. Sister-bonding night and one they won't forget. Plus it opens new doors of things they can do together, and hopefully with me, just of shorter duration.
Can you believe I did stand-up for a year or so starting from 2005 forward? I did it on a dare from my girls. They and their friends continued to insist on it and that I was funny; highest form of praise from teenage girls. Had the time of my life. Totally intoxicating to get up on stage in front of a few hundred people; with the house lights down, can only see the first few rows. But to pick up the mic and just joke about LIFE because LIFE can be so funny, and have so many people laugh with you, is just intoxicating.
Then went on to taking Improv classes for a few years. But, the highlight of my adult life, meaning just about ME, not factoring the girls or anything else, is when I auditioned for a TV part and got it. It was a 3 hour shoot. Oh, I had the BEST time. It took all of my focus and energy and everything else fell away. I will hold that close to me for the rest of my life.
Wow I can totally seeing you do that incredibly well. We all draw our humour from ours life's experiences. My friends tell me I should write a book about mine. Ever heard of a s**t magnet? That's me!! The most ridiculous things always seen to happen to me, good memories to look back on chuckle and think Yep that could only happen to me, my girls thinks its hilarious
