Hi All, I was diagnosed just before my 51st birthday with metastatic prostate cancer. The biopsy also mentioned that it appeared to be the rare and aggressive intraductal carcinoma.
After a few days of thinking "well, at least it wasn't the bladder cancer my dad had", a cystoscopy showed that yes, I also had bladder cancer. The bladder cancer was removed surgically via a TURBT procedure (no incision, they go in through what is normal an "exit only" and remove the tumor). A second tumor was also removed from my bladder and turned out to be a prostate cancer metastasis. Happily, the bladder cancer was non-invasive and has not recurred since, and hopefully will stay that way.
The prostate cancer on the other hand, responded very well to treatment for about a year, then morphed into the dreaded neuroendocrine cancer, diagnosed in January 2020. I've been fighting that for almost 14 months. I'm on my third chemotherapy and am doing well for the time being.
I've been writing a blog about my experiences (it was a running blog prior to cancer) and normally post updates in the advanced prostate cancer forum. As this is a new forum I thought I'd introduce myself here and shamelessly promote my blog too. Click the link to get more details about my current situation.
