Please help me understand more about the barriers to participating in clinical trials. If you've ever considered joining a clinical trial but decided against it, please share what influenced your decision?

I was in the testing phase for a clinical trial. One of the conditions was I had to cease taking a med for esophageal GERDS. No matter what drug was used as a substitute, I was miserable. So I had to drop out.
