Hello Magl1
I suggest filling out your profile so people here can best respond and provide thoughts & suggestions. In the mean time know that you are not alone, Prostate Cancer moves slow, and you will have options & choices on how to move forward. Read through the boards here and you will learn lots and realize that it is not a death sentence.
The most important thing for you right now is to get to the best medical expertise possible ASAP. Not just a urologist, but a team, probably including a medical oncologist and a radiation oncologist. That team will run tests, and recommend the best course of action based on your individual case -- possibly surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, or most likely a combination of those. And read and participate here, to get support and perspective from this band of brothers!
I'd like to second Atdabeach's excellent response. To that, I would also say that it's important not to assume that one form of treatment (surgery, for example) is superior to another. There are important reasons why surgery or hormonal treatment and radiation may be appropriate in some cases and not in others. As helpful a this board is, you'll often see people cheerleading for surgery in particular -- the notion that "getting it out" is best. It may indeed be in your case, but not necessarily. Listen to your doctors and keep an open mind.
keep your head up. There are many people going thru a lot more. Talk to your doctors and get your options. Do your homework and read as much as you can about this. Stay positive, you got this.
Hello,
please, calm down. There are many men here who had much higher PSA and are doing good.
For example my father had PSA 135 when he found out in 2019 and he's still doing good, he's now 70 years old.
Have you just found out that you have PSA 50 or do you know for a long time? Have you had any scans (bone scan, CT scan, PSMA scan)? Have you had a prostate biopsy? Do you take any prostate medicine?
Please provide more information so people can help you in the best way.
This is an excellent forum, you're lucky to be here.
my ex hubbie has just had PSA of 60 and a stage 3. He only went to GP as a result of a public campaign. It was a tough journey at times over the 8 mths but now all the treatment is behind him and low PSA he says he feels a new man and he is so much more confident.
Could be BPH. I know a guy that had PSA in the 30s and it turned out not to be cancer. I mean, that's might be overly hopeful, but still.
