I am 14 months post SBRT at UCSF. I had my latest PSA Friday it was 1.134 up from .740 6 months ago. Is this a normal bounce? The Dr said not to worry about it (easier said) and test again in 6 months.

PSA bounce
That's a bit of a long time for a "bounce."
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/276...
A total of 24/47 (51.1%) patients had ≥1 PSA bounce. Median magnitude of PSA rise during bounce was 0.50 ± 1.2 ng/mL. Median time to first bounce was 9 ± 7.0 months. Median bounce duration was 3 ± 2.3 months for the first bounce and 6 ± 5.2 months for subsequent bounces. Prostate volumes <30 mL were associated with a decreased likelihood of bounce (P = .0202), and increasing prostate volume correlated with increasingly likelihood of having ≥2 bounces (P = .027). Patients reaching PSA nadir of ≤0.1 ng/mL were less likely to experience any bounce (P = .0044).
My “bounce” didnt happen until 30 months .7 to 1.1 now .25 after 48 months.
Someone commented last night, said no it wasn’t normal but the post is now blank and says posted 2022y ago? Hows that happen?
Listen to your doc...
At a year out from HDR-BT my PSA shot up to 1.720 from a low of .841 just 6 months earlier. Doc says it's the bounce and should settle back down in another 3 to 6 months. No worries.

My bounce went to 6+ over 3 years after proton. I had docs saying lupron and others saying keep testing. I chose more frequent testing. From 6+ it has trended down over the subsequent 3 years to the lowest it’s been at .24. The roller coaster is not fun, but don’t be in a rush to do something unless there is a clear indication to do so.
