A sort of active surveillance is a new one to me.Gleason 4+3 is not a candidate for AS is there a specific reason why only hormone treatment such as health issues.

I'm not an expert but it doesn't seem like the best treatment.

Find a new doctor. There's no reason you can't have curative therapy.

It should be curable if you don't have a bad health.

Get a radiation oncologist (RO) and/or a medical oncologist (MO) and consult it with him/them.

There are many people from India here. Look at these posts:

You can also try making a similar post if you couldn't find a doctor.

Don't be afraid. It's good that you've found this forum.

I agree with all the above replies.

I really think you should get a second opinion.

I agree with the reply that said radiation therapy is probably the way to go as hormone therapy on its own is not as efficacious.

I had my prostate removed, some and it occurred, I have radiation therapy and then the hormone therapy.

I am now completely clear with an negligible number.

You owe it to yourself to get a second opinion for your own of mind.

I am 75 years old and had my diagnosis 10 years ago.

Thank you all for your valuable advice.I think myself as very unlucky.,and belong to a small group of people who get all the adverse effects of the treatment. After the biopsy I got infection and was on antibiotics for more than a month. The doctor said it's rare and hard luck. Here I consulted some new generation as well as some old generation MOsRTs and Urologists most of them have the same opinion as yours. They told me about the side effects of both RP and RT which can happen rarely. To be frank Iam really scared of the fact that if I have to wear diapers for the rest of my life for urine and bowel incontinence.and being a burden to my children .I expressed my anguish to this particular Urologist who is an old generation doctor with a lot of experience.who has treated hundreds of patients as professor of urology in various medical Universities in our place and a greatly regarded doctor. He says HT is not curative but one' can keep the disease under remission or at bay for a long time say more than 10 years or so. Or till I can bear the side effects or the cancer becomes HR.Then I will be about 80 years and if necessary can go for RT or other type of treatments.Just the reverse what is taking place now . first RP.thenRT then long years of HT.He says that is his experience. , Advise

My roadmap: RP, adaptive HT to stretch it far as it can go, RT as the last resort.

Definitely RT plus ADT, I wouldn't touch RP.

What about stretching HT as far as it goes and then RT

I would'nt fool around, do the RP..4+3.Sure the ADT can put things at bay,but no guarantee..Decipher says after RP,due ADT W RT.Superior results doing below 0.1..psma pet only good if you have the antigen and % accurate at what psa when done..Be pro-active as much as possible,it varies from rad/oncol to urologists when to start ADT.Some say 3 months prior to RT.some say no...Just do both.....
