SBRT pretreatment appt today
The best advice I can give is exercise, as much as you can, starting with the first treatment. Otherwise, I think you'll find that the treatments themselves are a big nothing.
I had SBRT with the last one on Dec 28th. Like Tall Al said the treatments are a piece of cake......just follow the prep orders (empty bowel, comfortably full bladder) carefully. Exercise is also good. I am having 6 months of Orgovyx so it is critical in my case.
Take a look at my profile for a couple posts I put up.
Stay Strong Brother, we got this!

You are 67, so is a Medicare Part D plan helping with your Orgovyx costs? Was there any special reason needed in order to obtain Orgovyx approval for use with radiation? Retail price for 6 months of Orgovyx is approx. $16000..so assume you were somehow able to obtain coverage for it? Or via a low income subsidy from the manufacturer? Thanks.....I will probably be starting RT in a few months, and Psychologically, Orgovyx would be my preference!!! I don't think there have been any studies of Orgovyx combined with radiation?

There was no special condition (that I am aware of ) that mt doc stated for the Orgovyx. It did need "pre-approval". There are all kinds of studies with Orgovyx and radiation and it is certainly "not inferior" to Lupron and in some cases superior. I am on part D, but Orgovyx is still spendy. I am not on an Advantage plan, rather a supplement. As such my expenses have been:
Nov $997.00
Dec $677.00
Jan $1,040.00
Feb $631.00
Mar $631.00
Total $3976 with likely one more charge of ~$631.00
A bunch of money, but I am fortunate that I was able to pay it.
Still only side effect from Orgovyx is one or two hot flashes a night. At the gym 3 days a week for two hours a day, and walking 18 holes of golf twice a week. Also watching portions and calories. Lost 8 pounds prior to starting Orgovyx and have managed to keep it off.
Hi pd63, I was just wondering if your still under Dr Song for your SBRT?
Great advice from Tall. I went through it with added Orgovyx for 2 yrs. The radiation treatments are a piece of cake. Good luck to u sir!
I am nearly half way though 7 weeks of EBRT treatment for high risk PC at Genesis Care. I haven't found the prep particularly easy. Getting the bladder "comfortably" (i.e. uncomfortably) full is a tricky balancing act. I have a routine where I now make sure I have a couple of glasses of water with breakfast to make sure I am reasonably hydrated. Then 500ml 45 mins before - my sessions are at 1045. Also ensuring you have enough fibre to go every morning without too much so you don't make too much gas! The RT itself is a doddle and I am always very relieved when the machine starts buzzing away as checks have been completed and treatment starts. I take flomax and occasional paracetamol (no NSAIDS as on warfarin for AF). Let me know by PM if you have any questions on prep.
I second TallAllen's comments. During my treatments, I didn't do any heavy weight-based exercise but I did get out and walk two miles a day and did some easy coasting on the stationary bike. I think it made a difference because I didn't feel that much energy loss during my treatments. I just had to ensure I had quick access to a bathroom!
