Aspirin trials

I have recently finished hormone therapy, last 3 monthly injection April 2023. Good result so far with PSA at <0.01.

Met with my Oncologist today and he said there were trials using aspirin as a potential drug to reduce potential recurrence. Has anyone come across this and, even though the results will not be confirmed for some time, is it worth taking daily aspirin now as precaution ?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, it has no effect:

Allen If multiple tests have proven aspirin has no effect on prostate cancer, then why are most tests being done? Thanks.

I have no idea why France and the UK are still running trials. If you find out, let me know.

They are running 3 clinical trials testing aspirin , vitamin D3 and metformin to measure impact if any on future reoccurrence. I started aspirin trial but came off it because I want to take a baby aspirin every 2 to 3 days and did not want to risk being in placebo or larger sized aspirin group. That was 5 years ago. Will be interesting to see the results of the trials when they report. I also take D3 but am not on metformin.

GreenStreet: How much D3 do you take? When you have fasting blood work, what level of D3 does your team want you to have?

It varies. My "team" have no view of the level of D3 that I should have. Based on some views from Snuffy Myers and some previous posters whose views I respect I aim for 65 (preferably 70) to 80 ng/ML in a D3 blood test. In UK values I think that translates into 180-200 nmol/L. The input required to achieve this depends on the person and sometimes the season. My latest test showed me below range so I have increased the amount I take before testing again. I think one needs to take care as I did over run my range once and had to adjust downwards

Thank you! Somewhere I believe I read 70 was the optimum value.

I am in a 6 year trial at Guys Hospital , London called ‘Add aspirin’ and it’s been going some time. It’s a double blind trial with two different doses and placebo so the results should be coming out in the near future. The findings will be interesting I’m sure.

Yes the same trial I referred to above. Royal Marsden Hospital participating too. My understanding was this was one wing of 3 tests the others being Vit D3 and metformin
