Trimix storage

I've searched the archives here, but couldn't find information on storing trimix. I've read recommendations stating that it can be frozen for up to a year. The "pharmacist" at my compounding pharmacy said it shouldn't be frozen. Is there any good advice out there? Thanks, John

The pharmacist you spoke to is trying to make more money off of you. Definitely freeze it.

Thank you, that was my thought as well.

Your pharmacist isn’t being honest with you. I always freeze mine. Lasts much longer frozen.

Yeah....my pharmacist said the same. I think it is in their interest to try and keep us to the 28 day limit of the effectiveness of a vial of TriMix under refrigeration. I tried freezing some pre-filled syringes (store capped and in a ziplock bag) and found it was still effective over 60 days later. I will continue to experiment with it's effectiveness when frozen....but at $100 a vial.... definitely worth the experiment. It can last me months given I can get as many as 10+ syringes at my dosage level (10 -15 units/ul). I would not freeze and defrost the vial repeatedly as it would accelerate the degradation....plus easy to use when prefilled syringes and defrosts in little more than a minute when placed in your armpit. Good luck.
