Does Lupron compromise immune system?

Thinking of getting third COVID shot, not sure if being on ADT for prostate cancer justifies doing so. Have had 6 three month shots thus far.

Is my immune system compromised?

The opposite. It might increase your immunity.

So, I guess we don’t know. My MO is on vacation so I won’t get his opinion for a while. I have an appointment next week for the shot but I’m not sure if it’s necessary. Thanks

I’d like to see something more definitive and more resent in regard to Lupron. This is from 16 months ago. Things change rapidly. New information may be available that is contradictory.

I haven't seen something more recent. Why would you expect it to be different?

I have this in my files:

" Comparing the total number of SARS-CoV-2-positive cases, prostate

cancer patients receiving ADT had a significantly lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection compared with patients who did not receive ADT."

I’m only trying to find out if I am immunocompromised. This is the only question I asked. Looking for a yes or know answer. Thanks for the info.

Have a great weekend.

The answer is NO. I don't know how to make it any clearer.

I don’t read minds. This is the first time you answered my question. However, the reference you quoted doesn’t substantiate your “no “ answer. Just because an ADT patient is at lower risk doesn’t necessary mean he isn’t immunocompromised and doesn’t need a third Covid injection.

Let’s just end this post

Thanks for your time.

If you are only trying to find out if your are immunocompromised, then look at you latest labs otherwise it's anyone's guess.

Or get the third shot and relax.

What in my labs might indicate if I am immunocompromised? I’m not aware of anything. Maybe my labs are not complete enough. I don’t want another shot unless there is a good reason, such as being immunocompromised.

Thanks for your response.

Thanks. I’ll check it out. Have a nice weekend.

The shot will be recommended for everyone soon and forever. Might as well get ready.

Don’t have to be immunocompromised to die of covid. What low testosterone has done for me is pushed me toward diabetes which is bad also. Get the shot save your butt. I’m sure you know someone who died that didn’t have cancer. Good luck

It appears any sort of cancer is justification for the 3rd shot. Not that your immune system is necessarily compromised, but your ability to fight off the virus if you got it may be weakened by other body changes caused by ADT.

I appreciate your reply. Thank you very much.

Based upon how FDA worded criteria for third shot, simply being treated for cancer is justification for getting a booster at this time. Just go get it.

Thank you for replying. I made an appointment just now to have the shot on Wednesday at CVS. Stay well.

Check your WBC and absolute lymphocyte counts, especially if you’ve had radiation.
