My Dad had surgery Jan 6th. Pre op psa was 8.4 and 7 weeks post op psa was 6.2. He had PET Axumin scan done last week nothing came up on it. His Dr seems shocked his psa is still so high and doesn't know why this would be. Has anyone experienced this?

PSA barely went down after surgery
What were his pathology results?
It showed all clear according to dr but I read something about nodules.
TA: Don't they do scans to locate tumors before RP? I don't understand what happened here.
He had a scan pre op and showed nothing according to the dr.
Up to now, I have had 21 PSA tests out of which 2 were absurdely erroneous. This is a 10% error rate. Did you countercheck with a repeat test performed by a second lab?
As long as it's going down. Some of that PSA may be do to irritation from the surgery.
A persistent PSA after radical prostatectomy can, unfortunately, mean cancer has progressed and metastasized. A secondary treatment is then hormone therapy.
Did he have any nodes removed during surgery? If so how many and was cancer found in those?
Greetings,
Please tell us his bio. Age? Location? When diagnosed? Treatment(s)? Treatment center(s)? Scores Psa/Gleason? Medications? Doctor's name(s)?
