Prostate Cancer and the Polar Expedition Industry

I’m about three weeks from diagnosed and I haven’t told any friends or colleagues because frankly, I work at the poles (Antarctica and Arctic), and I’m terrified that it will be a career killer. I’m asymptomatic and have a low risk, Gleason 6, but and I’m wondering if there any other polar expedition guides or other guys out there working in the polar regions with PC? Did it affect your carrier or are you keeping it quiet?

Cool job! (see what I did there?) I wrote a novel (Thaw's Hammer)that mostly takes place in a not-too-hard-to-imagine post-Warming Antarctica.

No reason to tell any co-workers. They'll just ask a bunch of questions which you yourself are still asking. Talk to the medical professionals and to others who are experiencing PCa.

I waited until I researched, created and executed on my plan. Then I was comfortable in discussing with a limited set of others which included family and loved ones. Still not comfortable telling the world though, everyone has enough issues.
