Diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 years ago. Now on Flowmax due to frequency and week finish. It helped. Dr wants me to take avodart to shrink prostate. Don't care for sounds of possible side affects. What are the other and best options? New Dr would prefer it smaller before next biopsy due to very large.

Proscar or avodart are the only drugs, other than full-on ADT, that will shrink your prostate. It may also re-grow hair on your head. About 20% have some sexual side effects.
