Drop in PSA

I checked my PSA 3 months after my initial diagnosis in September. It dropped from 3.5 to 2.5....This means that there is less inflammation? I’m not sure. In 3 months, I became strictly pescatarian, plant-based diet with a big focus on cruciferous veggies (broccoli sprouts), daily exercise and several rounds of fasting. I also eliminated a lot of potentially hazardous household & grooming products. I am happy with the results but what is the explanation?

Your plant-based diet, particularly heavy cruciferous vegetable intake, could contribute to that drop. How many servings of beans do you consume weekly? Have you watched Joel Fuhrman's videos at youtube? How about Michael Greger's videos at his site nutritionfacts.org.

These may be helpful:

I thought you would like them. Here are some of my previous posts on diet-related issues and natural supplements ( a little dated as I have made a few changes).

I have 2-4 servings of beans per week ? Is that bad?

Nothing could be better for you than beans. They are a prime source of phytate, better known as IP6. Go to nutrition facts.org and view Dr. Gregor‘s videos on phytate. Also Dr. Fuhrman‘s videos at YouTube are very helpful on diet. He knows my niece and told her to tell me that I needed to boost My bean intake to fight Pca.

Awesome...guess what I made for dinner....I was misinformed because I thought zero carbs was the way to go so I eliminated beans among other things. I realized that beans are great source of energy, fiber and protein...and this new information on IP6....Bring on the beans!!!

Think in terms of plant-based diet. Download Dr. Greger's free app "The Daily Dozen". These food categories presented in his app offer you hundreds of healthy choices. But always remember The Bean and Cruciferous Vegetables. You can't go wrong.

PSA does bounce around quite a bit. Years ago mine dropped from 4.1 to 3.3 in 2 months with no changes. I almost certainly had a substantial slow growing cancer at the time. It was 20cc when treated 5 years later.

Beans, beans the musical fruit, the more you eat the more you fart!

Actually, this old rhyme from our childhood maligns the Noble Bean. Beans contain phytate/IP6. They are serious anticancer food. Extracted into a pure powder phytate/IP6 loves to kill cancer cells in heavy doses. In lighter doses it normalizes cancer cells. Eat enough beans and in 6 months the excess gas problem goes away. Dr. Fuhrman attests to this and I found out he is right.

I knew something was wrong with that rhyme! The last word is not fart, it is TOOT! Rhymes with fruit. I am sorry if this little ditty offended your Noble Bean. Yes, beating cancer is serious stuff. Too much of this seriousness makes for a very dull existence. BTW, I love beans and eat lots of them too.

Talk about closing the door after the horse got out, we have gone pescatarian along with eggs and other dairy products. Lots of whole grains, avacados, veggies, beans, and nuts. I had my surgery 7 and a half years ago. I have no idea what has done to my PSA since it has remained undetectable since then.
