Hi everyone. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I just wondered when you ladies started buying things for your babies? I haven't got anything yet and feel like I have plenty of time but I am a first time mum so no previous experience! X

Hiya.. I think its a personal choice. When i was having my daughter 7 years ago i was out buying straight away :)

Im now 31 weeks pregnant and have bought little things and stuff for my hospital bag :) I would just be out shopping and see something nice and buy it but :) slightly supersitious.. but hard not to when you are so excited :)

Congrats on your pregnancy :) :) xx

Thanks Ashy - congrats to you too! I think it is double hard as my husband has said he would prefer we don't find out the sex at the 20 week scan and so i will go with that choice but it means i acan't be tempted into buying pink or blue. I think the main reason I haven't bought anything yet is that I still can't believe it's real!

I am 27 weeks today - first time mom and the buying process started at different stages. First was my mom and MIL buying in first trimester (so I got tiny baby clothes for Christmas when I was 12 weeks, and i tell you they were so small that I got nervous)

Me and my husband went first sopping after the dating scan (I picked a shirt which said 'when I grow up i Want to be cool' to which daddy replied - 'what if its a girl than she may want to be hot' :P but he did buy his DADD (dad against daughter dating) t-shirt.

And then its going slowly and steadily after the 21 week scan and confirmation that its indeed a girl.

The walls are done the wardrobe and toys are set (we already had an extra wardrobe which we would use for baby stuffs). and the moses basket would be here on Monday.

And yup I am keeping an eye on both e-bay sales and bounty offers to do my shopping bits. I have a list of essentials and accessories too :P

I agree with Ashy2005, just buy when it feels right for you! It is exciting to start considering little bits and pieces. If you use amazon you can put things on your wish list for when you are ready to spend.

Soon you'll have that wonderful anomaly scan and get more information and see how much your little babe has grown. Congratulations on your pregnancy! :) x

I bought my travel system and cot bed at 18 weeks in a sale :) then from 21 weeks I bought clothes as we found out the sex :)

hiya, I am 20 weeks today and a first time mum, but also waiting to move house so until tht happens I don't wana buy anything just to move it again and I hav nowhere to put it here. Don't feel rushed into buying everything all at once, I have written a list of things that I need to buy and things I will be recieveing as a gift so I know whats what. we have our scan on Monday so will find out if its a boy/girl but this doesn't mean I will be going out buying just blue or pink xx

I painted baby's room at 22weeks, ordered a cot at 24 weeks (should arrive in two weeks time) and got the rest of the nursery bits on Wednesday (26 weeks). I'll more than likely be delivered at 37 weeks, else maybe would have left it longer. Xx

I was to excited when I had my first, I bought alot of things after we had the 12 week scan. I am sure I demanded the cot be put up so I could see what it would look like. I can remember just standing in the nursery looking at the cot for ages just thinking OMG there is gonna be a baby in there soon.

I don't suppose there is any right or wrong, really. I've only bought a few bigger trousers today (I'm 18 weeks tomorrow) & some maternity clothes in a sale for later on. The amount of stuff to buy & organising to do is a bit overwhelming plus we're both working our butts off, me while I still have the energy to, so that we can save our pennies. In a months time we're going on holiday & then we intend to blitz the shops for all the baby essentials...and I'll start to wind down too, of course :o))

im 21 weeks and ordered my pram saturday, and bought a few clothes for my baby boy. my nan went out and bought the first baby grows and mitts when i was 12 weeks. i wasnt best pleased with that!!

i started buying at 18weeks. but only nappies and wet wipes, nappy bag, and a pack of dummies just incase, and johnson bits. least i can build on that. Like DrFluffy, i will be induced around 37weeks so it seems closer and closer quite quickly. xx
