4d scans?

hi all, I was wondering do the hospitals where u have ur regular 12 and 20 week scans do the 4d scans or do u have to go somewhere different, I know there is a charge but this isn't a problem and do u have to wait till a certain week in the pregnancy? I have my 20 week scan next week but I was just wondering about 4d scans? x

Usually from week 23, but best at 28. Most are done by private companies, many NHS set ups do not have the kit as there is no medical reason for a 4D scan.

If you go private, make sure it's a place that routinely does all kinds of ultra sounds, including non-obstetric ones, as there are a wealth of clinics where staff are only trained to do 4D scans, and problems can me missed or over interpreted.

It is done privately. Just google it. The place where I had my private dating scan charges £120 for a 4D scan and I think you get a CD with it, they said they can do it after 20 weeks.

I'm having mine done in 2weeks time as they told me they can do it from week 22.i know that baby wont be too big yet as i'll be 24weeks then so i may change it now having thought about it.but just cant wait and my son as well.the hospital couldnt tell us babys sex so thats another reason i wanted to have it earlier.i've booked it with well known private clinic and some of my friends went there. I had one at 30 weeks fantastic at the time, would I have another ? no it took away the element of surprise as to what your baby looks like before delivery. I hope yours goes well though they are amazing to watch

I haven't booked one, am only 19+3 but was just thinking about it as an option as its my first. just looking at my options
