Is there a reason why the doctor wont see you

Has he/she actually refused or have u been advised to book another appointment ?

As long as you've notified your G.P of your pregnancy theres no reason for them to not see you.

Is your surgery usually very busy?

More often than not u fill out a pregnancy questionaire at the doctors then u wait to hear from a midwife. Doctors dont really need to see u. X

They said they dont have to see me cos my test was positive and just told me to self certify. That was nearly 2 weeks ago now and ive had to get all my info from the net. Maybe I just have a crap gp x

My g.p filled out all the forms for me! They should at least let u know where get forms etc very unhelpful! Especially with ur first how are u supposed to know what do I wouldn't and toys isn't my first! Have u rung the midwife dept at hospital and asked their advice? ?? U need to get booked in and seen soon.....xx

On my first I phoned the doctors as soon as I got a positive home test result and they asked me to drop off a urine sample and they did another test. They then told me to make an appointment with a midwife for week 8. On this pregnancy I didn't even phone the doctors until I was 6 weeks and just asked for my 8 week midwife appointment as I didn't feel the need to have a doctors pregnancy test. I think the timing depends on your area but they should at least tell you what the next step is so you can book an appointment - I think it's very unlikely they would book you in themselves. I hope you get seen soon!!

Skylark that is a bit shocking to me!

I'm 38, having my first & I've actually had to register with a new surgery as i've moved from my originaly hometown & never got round to it. The receptionists were excellent & told me all I needed to know. The midwife contacted me a week later to make my booking in appointment which i've now had & my scan date has been confirmed for next Wednesday. Now THAT'S the treatment I believe we should all be getting. Don't be fobbed off hun, speak with the surgery & ask to speak with the midwives. Don't worry about GP, the chances are you may never even need to see him/her. I haven't even met my new GP yet & don't see the need to at this stage unless i'm told to do so by midwife.

Chin up & hope you get it all sorted x

My GP had to refer me to the midwife. I don't know if it is different in different practises. The midwife wont normally see you until you are 8 weeks. I got a form off the receptionist at the docs office and then they got the midwife to call me to arrange an appointment. Put your foot down and get the care that you need, it doesn't give you much faith in the your gp practice though does it.

I'm 19 weeks with my first. I saw my GP at 3 weeks and they gave me a maternity pack with lots of forms to fill out. I then had to wait until I was 8 weeks and then ring the midwife to book an appointment for my 12 week scan. It seems you do it all yourself these days.
