Hi there!

I know the feeling!!! I had my 40 week appt when I was 39+5 and unfortunately the MW saw no reason to conduct a sweep! She felt there was no reason at that stage to 'move things along'.

What she did do is make a future hospital appt for 41 weeks where she said I would be asked if I'd like to have a sweep done - that will be this Friday!

I'm currently going to bed every night wondering if I'll be woken up with the start of labour pains but again this morning and nothing!!!!

Obviously every mum to be and MW different so fingers crossed for you!!!

Thank you 2ndtimelucky. Just fed up with doctors, hospitals and uti's now. Mw is useless and have no faith in her. They were concerned about babybumps size (too big) and I've had loads of scans. Now nothing. Plus have hip pain sob. Will you accept your sweep on Friday@

I am not there yet with my first baby but I have been using this as a guide....I just happen to look this morning as I have Obs & Gyne appt as Hosp, I thought I was getting a scan to check placental health but letter dpea not say so I wondered what that appt was for (am 36+5)

The guide 'suggests' a sweep is not offered until 41 weeks.

Babyboom had an early sweep as her MW could feel the head with minimal dilation, maybe you've seen her feed?

Hope things start happening for you soon xx

Thank you cheekymonkey3791. The consultant said babybump was starting to engage a couple of weeks ago. Mw then said he wasn't as engaged as consultant said zzz. Just think she can't be bothered until totally necessary. I trust the consultant more than mw and its them that recommended the sweep. Sorry for wittering on lol

Oh no we all need to witter sometimes, it's what this forum is for! To learn from each other, besides our friends and family don't always want to listen to us, they want to put their fingers in their ears to most of what's discussed on here! Lol

I'm not anywhere near engaged yet and have concerns as this baby loves being on the right or transverse leaving alot of my womb empty! So we'll see.

I'll check in later to see if your MW has given you what you want xx

Splodge is over the right hand side constantly too, I think she is trying to escape sideways feet first!!! I was panicking that something was wrong and she was all twisted inside.

Oh I really feel for you. I'm 38+4 and already had a sweep (though i didnt actually ask her so convinced was she baby wanted to get out now)...just text my midwife actually to see if she can fit me in tomorrow for another as baby has been teasing me. I would ask again today at your appointment if I were you though. Good luck :-)

Midwife Wouldn't do a sweep cosi wasn't at the hospital. ..I told her the consultant had said it was ok and she phoned to double check, then went ahead they only do it if ur favourable whatever that means but def push for it say ur really uncomfortable and in pain. ..u never know... Good luck x

Hi there, in all fairness a sweep is not the most comfortable or dignified of procedures and if your cervix isn't ripe and ready it will probably cause you more misery than not, so maybe it's not the best option at this time. Due dates are for guidance rather than written in stone so relax and rest assure that your baby will arrive when its ready. In between time take the opportunity to relax and indulge yourself while you can because you'll have your hands full soon enough. Good luck :)

I saw the consultant, she's requested my MW does a sweep next Wed at 38, again at 39 and induction booked for 40 if nothing happening, I'm not going over due date as I am '40'. She knows I didn't want to be pigeon holed and I do not want to be induced if can avoid it xx
