I have serious endometriosis (2 operations and still extreme pain), take drugs (now mefenamic acid + ibroprufen) and want to get pregnant.

Will the drugs cause any problems getting pregnant? I also use a TENS machine during the pain (not that is does much to distract me). A recent scan showed my tubes are clear but the levels of pain do make me concerned. Any advice either about the pain (I have suffered for 12 years now) and/or about getting pregnant bearing all this in mind?

I can't assure you that you will definitely get pregnant when you try but I have had endometriosis for my whole adult life and I also have fibroids. I've had 3 laparoscopies over 10 years and was also taking mefanemic and tranexamic acid until I got pregnant almost 9 months ago. I have to admit that I have been having 5 element acupuncture for the last 3 years to help me with the endo pain and pms but I'm sure that it's also helped me to conceive as it's renowned for that and seems to have a high success rate. So my advice would be to get started with trying and be optimistic. The meds shouldn't cause you any problems. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing that. Just knowing you got pregnant after a similar history helps. I have dipped in and out of alternative therapies so maybe I will return as a stress relief and aid. Thanks again.

Hi Elfutuo. I was told about 6 years ago that I would never be able to have children due to having stage 4 endometreosis. I was told about two years ago, after having a second cystectomy, that the next time I was rushed into hospital in complete agony, they would be giving me a full hystorectomy. Then I found out about a specialist in Halifax. I had a full radical peritoneum excision last January (2012) purely to rid the pain and lead a normal day-to-day life. Amazingly, today, I am in my 24th week of pregnancy and I still can't believe it! This guy is private and not cheap, but he knows his stuff - Mr Trehan - google his website, even if only to put you more in the know. Let me know how you get on & the very best of luck to you. xx

hi just wanted to say i have server endo have done for 15 yrs i was told by 2 spechalists no chance of getting pregnant natraly iv had 7 laps and overy removrd ...

but happy to say i have 3 little miricules all conceved natraly

age 7 ,5 ,3 never give up xx
