Is it safe to dye your hair during pr... - Pregnancy and Par...
Is it safe to dye your hair during pregnancy? I have heard a lot of different things?
Yeah I dyed my hair through both my pregnancies and have two healthy children.
Wait till after the first trimester. My fiance is a hair stylist and he says its ok as long asbit dont touch the scalp but im still waiting till im at least 15weeks. There is no evidence though about hair dying so this is just mine and my partners opinion
My hairdresser told me it fine as long as u have no cuts or scratches on your head/scalp
I've just been to have my hair done and my hairdresser wouldn't do a full head tint only foils, apparently it's to do with the sensitivity being heightened in the first trimester she said next time she will do a skin tet to see how I react, but only when I'm in second trimester.
Thankfully I love what's she's done with my hair.
It's fray how muh our bodies changed during this time.
There is no evidence to say it will harm the baby but I would leave anything that could carry a risk until after twelve weeks just in case! Maybe go for highlights instead of an all over colour as our skin is more sensitive while pregnant. I had my armpits waxed a few weeks ago, as I was my sisters bridesmaid, bad idea! The rash has just cleared. I think it is important to have your hair done and pamper yourself while your pregnant. Let your hairdressser know you're pregnant. Enjoy x
Hello ,
I bleached my hair about a week before I found out that I was expecting . I did it myself at home . I then worried , and waited till after the 12 week scan , I then dyed it dark brown , to blend with my natural colour so I didn't have to worry about it till after my little one gets here . I do agree with Peanut1 about the sensitivity thing . I have found that when I shave my legs , I get a rash around my ankles . Also my skin has become very dry and flaky , especially my scalp ( which never happened before ) . Also read somewhere that the colours may not take the same as they did pre pregnancy . Oh the joys of hormones . Hope all goes well. X
The worry is if you were to take a bad allergic reaction and it could be difficult to treat while you're pregnant without harming the baby.
As long as u do it in a well ventilated room as its the fumes that can be harmful.. And don't bleach it or ur any paroxide.. I dyed mine at 11weeks
I have also dyed my hair at home with an all over colour. I did wait until I was about 15 weeks though just for my own peace of mind but my midwife said it was fine to do. To be fair the colour didnt take so well and did keep colouring the water when I washed it. I am thinking of doing it again soon though, I am now 27 weeks.
