If I give birth 3 weeks before or after due date, does that mean they were wrong the whole way through of dating my fetus or does it just mean that the baby came when it was ready?

Due dates
In the UK, the normal length of a pregnancy is classed as 37 weeks or above. Between 7-13 weeks babies grow at the same rate so dating scans done between this time are very accurate. After about 14 weeks they grow at different rates, so calculating due dates after that isn't worth it, and I believe they don't recommend changing a due date after then, instead they use other measurements to see if your baby is growing okay.
A baby arriving after 37 weeks, having been given a due date before 14 weeks, was most likely ready to come anyway, unless there were medical problems
I'm not a professional in any way, but I'm a Mum and this is just my opinion based on my own research .
Hi I was told by my midwife that when its coming near to your due date your baby will decide when he or she is ready to come. I agree with lunarkim.
Thankyou so much
I had a transvaginal scan at 10 weeks and then ultrasound at 15 weeks and dates added up. So should i be reassured that the fetus is definitely 28 weeks?
Also can you tell me what sort of time I would have conceived? (Edd 120313, guessed lmp 050612, 28 weeks tomorrow)
Can you reassure me it was not in may please?
Thankyou
hi
from my calculation you are correct , you are 28 weeks now ( as today 17/12/12 - exactly 28+6)
Tupical pregnancy is 280 days ( 40 weeks )You probably concived around 19-25 June ( 2 weeks after you last period )
This is normal to give birhs 2 weeks before this date or 2 weeks after that date , baby will decide when is ready to come .
Good luck x
Ok thankyou
From those dates do I need to minus 7 days to find out the date I had sexual intercourse? I say 7 days because that's how long sperm lives to fertilise, am I correct?)
Or is this all included in the dates from ultrasound and measurements etc?
Do scans measure from lmp or from conceptual date?
Appreciate your replies x
I think the scan measures from date of conception. From my last period my midwife guessed I was about 13 weeks pregnant but when I got my scan I was 13 weeks 5 days, meaning I concived 5 days before taking my last period. I am not sure why I had a period after conception.
Thankyou that has made me worry even more :-(. i do not mean to be rude, but are you sure that was your period and not implantation bleeding? It is just that I have read that it is extremely unlikely to be pregnant and have a period?
Thanks again
