How long was it before your hair loss started to slow down after having your baby?! I feel like I'm going to go bald!! It's been coming out like mad for a couple of weeks now.

Mine has slowed down now although still some loss. LO is 21 weeks. I had my hair cut a bit shorter which felt like it made a difference x

hi there, my son is just over 19 weeks and for the last 4weeks every second day when I wash my hair clumps are coming out, im the same I feel as if im going bald, ive been to doctors and got blood took, just waiting on the results, doctor said happens to a lot of new mums, it could just be hormones changing again, starting to go back to normal. hes also referred me to dermatologist, this is my 3rd baby it didn't happen when I had my other 2 kids, so hoping it grows back in.

Our hair gets thicker when we are pregnant and apparently we only lose what we gained during pregnancy. I have four children and I never got extra hair or lost any with my three boys but during this last pregnancy my hair got a lot thicker. My LO is 17 weeks old so I am waiting for it to start falling out :-( I have really thin hair and so don't want to lose mine

:-( Has anyone actually ever got thicker hair in pregnancy and actually managed to keep it?

I didn't notice my hair getting thicker during pregnancy but I'm definitely losing a lot now! Iv read it's completely normal & it's due to hormones but I don't know how long I should expect it to last. My LO is 13 weeks & it started about 2 weeks ago.

Oh dear , I remember this well... I cried and cried over my hair loss with both my children and am expecting a disaster this time roiund again. My hair is extremely thin and flat and full of split ends anyway, in a nutshell, it's s*%t and always has been :-) so I had my hair cut shorter too and took some vitamins but I think it's unavoidable... It is too long ago for me to remember when it stopped but I wish you good luck with it, I know it's horrible to wake up to a mass of hair on your pillow every morning!! xx

It's blimmin awful isn't it! Can't remember exactly how long it fell out for - about 6-8 weeks I reckon. I've just started losing it again, I've got really thick hair and it's about the longest it's been since I left school so although it's probably coming out at the same rate as after my first baby, the length makes it seem so much worse!

Totally normal though, hang in there and vacuum often ;-) x

Oh I already have fine hair and not loads of it to start with so to see so much falling out was distressing I tell ya! Especially as my hair only got marginally thicker during pregnancy so it didn't seem like so much should be there to fall out!! Lol. It has started to slow though....James is 22 weeks today :D and it's been falling out less since week 18/19 I'd say x

Hi hun.my lo is almost 9months. My hair started falling out when he was 2-3mths and only stopped about a month ago but dont worry I didnt go bald and im sure you won't either xx

I wrote about this bout 6 weeks ago, it was ridiculous but now at 22 weeks I don't find my hair everywhere. it is common tho and happens to a lot of mums..x

I don't wanna seem like im gloating here but i think ive been quite lucky to not have suffered with too much hair loss this time around.

During pregnancy with my son in 2008 my hair was very thin & light & whenever i did something like wash it i would have'to clean the plug hole out because it'll be full of hair.

during my last pregnancy in 2013 ive found my hair has got quite thick & almost spongey like, at one point even i started to think this is too good to be true, but 3 months on it's still all good.

SORRY :(

Some people don't suffer much with their hormones and pregnancy, but I think that, those of us that have had hormonal issues, usually get hair loss. My baby is 5 months old and mine is falling out at a terrific rate. I usually pass my hands over my hair before I step into the shower, so that I don't plug up the sinkhole and it literally comes out in handfuls. It wasn't very thick to start with, but during the end of my pregnancy it thickened up and was lovely, but now just dropping out! I'm going to make and appointment with my GP, but I don't think that they can do much.

I also bought Organic Virgin Coconut Oil from Neals Yard and plan to put that in once a week, before a wash, to see if it helps.
