Pregnancy and carpal tunnel

Hi Ladies, I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with twins and suffering from quite bad carpal tunnel syndrome. (Pain, burning, pins and needles in the arms and fingers). I dont see a midwife until a few weeks. Does anyone suffer from this? What do you do to help it?

My other question is, do you have a dedicated midwife in the hospital? I have been seeing different people each time whilst I was under the impression that I would get a dedicated midwife.

Congratulations!

I am 39 weeks and being suffering numb fingers at bed time from 36 weeks, same with my first pregnancy. Not much you can do I suppose, but worth to speak to your midwife in your next appointment as you are only 18 weeks. I think also depends on your job, if you use a keyboard and mouse all day for example...

I have never had a dedicated midwife, every app has been with a different one, which I do not like it, but cannot do anything about it.

Thanks Tribu. Congrats to you too. I will see what the midwife says next week.

Hey. I had really bad carpel tunnel throughout pregnancy. I ordered a wrist splint from amazon which I found really helped.

I always had the same midwife (who I seen at GP practice) it only changed if she was off on holiday then when I moved house xxx

Hi lovely, I had carpal tunnel too! It actually went away on its own after a few weeks, just one of those annoying things we haveto put up with unfortunately. Worth speaking to the doctor or midwife about it as there are some exercises you can do and I also bought wrist splints which were okay but I found them a bit bulky and uncomfortable. There's some tape you can use that my friend swears by. I think you can get that off amazon too?

I'm regards to a constant midwife that doesn't happen on the NHS I'm sorry to say. If this is concern to you (and within price range) I would reccomnend hiring a doula to see you through from pregnancy to the birth (and beyond! Having a doula for a couple weeks after the birth is amazing, especially if you don't have much family around to help). Doulas are often trained midwives themselves too.

Hopefully this helps Xx also if it's any consolation I had a different midwife every time, and three different ones saw me through my 12 hr labour, and they were all lovely and did a fabulous job. I didn't feel like I was missing out by not having the same midwife throughout Xx good luck Xx

Hi I’ve been having this for the last few weeks! Im 21 weeks. Mine happens when I wake up. If you are worried then ask your midwife. xoxo
