Baby Athletes Foot

PrincessGurn1984 profile image

My baby is 5 months old and I think he may have athletes foot if that’s at all possible! I think it’s probably from where he has had sweaty feet and then worn baby gros overnight with covered feet, we keep his feet bare during the day when at home to let them air out and dry. Is there anything over the counter I can use for him? Not sure what’s possible at this age. It doesn’t seem to bother him. Pic attached for reference. It’s at eve back of his toe creases and between his toes. We dry his feet after baths and even use a cotton bud between them to make sure but it’s still happened. Thanks!

I would go to the GP, they can prescribe something for athletes foot, you might also have to put all your clothes, bedding and towels on a really hot wash to get rid of it too.

I agree with this.

Please see your GP. Babies are prone to staphylococcal infections in open wounds like these. X

Thanks both your advice, I’ve got a doctors appointment for him tomorrow so will see what they say. Hopefully they can preserve something to clear it up. Am worried it reoccur as it’s impossible to be bare foot in this cold weather! As it needs an opportunity to dry out properly x

See his GP. however it will keep reoccurring or persist (even get worse) if you still plan to baby gros on him at night. What he requires is air time and no socks. He is overheated and sweating underneath the baby gros. Give him a break from it after visiting GP and see how that goes. I know it is scary letting go of it but this is likely the best solution to prevent reoccurrence.

I could him in footless baby grows that might help? As he has a sleeping bag on too! So feet shouldn’t get too chilly but means they are t encaged by the snug feet of the sleepsuits? X
