Anal fissure during pregnancy

Hi everyone, hope you are doing well.

I’m 9 weeks pregnant with an anal fissure not healing at all for the past 5 weeks. I have tried everything recommended by the GP but it’s just not healing. She refused to prescribe either of the two ointments (GTN and Diltiazem) which could potentially help the fissure heal. She wanted to stay on the cautious side which I completely understand but the hours and hours of pain is just too much.

I would like to ask if anyone has used these during pregnancy? Or if anything else helped you?

Thanks in advance!

I don’t have experience with either of those but I have just had great success with proctosedyl suppositories and ointment combined with movicol to soften everything up and make it easier to pass. The doc prescribed 1 suppository at night going to bed and I took 1 sachet of movicol and then used the proctosedyl ointment after going to the toilet. I had 2 large fissures which were extremely painful but 10 days later my symptoms had improved. I didn’t think it would work as I had fissures after my first pregnancy and had to have Botox injections under general anaesthetic to sort it out. However it was that surgeon prescribed movicol at the time to help with that recovery so I knew this time to ask for that as well as the proctosedyl to give it the best chance. Hope that helps

Thank you so much! I have an appointment with a general surgeon soon and I will ask him for it.
