Tests during pregnancy
Hi
They typically take bloods at your booking appointment to check your blood type and any blood conditions. Then they offer the Michal translucency test starts your saying scan between 11- 14 weeks which includes another blood test. They used to do urine and blood pressure at midwife appointment but, I am not sure now. It is an anxious time for your first pregnancy, hope you’re okay x
Hi there
Congratulations on your pregnancy 🥰 I had my bloods taken on my first scan this week where I was 13 weeks. It may have been sooner (I cant remember as my last pregnancy was 12yrs ago) but due to all what's going on I hadn't met my midwife either until I arrived at the hospital, so hopefully you should get them in the next 2/3 weeks xx
Hi
This has recently happened to my friend. She had her booking in appointment over the phone. They take your family history, yours and partners history
When she went for her 12 week scan, they did the usual 12 week checks ( Edwards and downs testing, official due date ) and also did the tests she would've had at the booking in appointment ( blood group, hiv, urine, blood pressure)
I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant and even with covud 19 my care has still been excellent
I would ask the midwife when you'll recieve your notes which you take with you when you go for appointments and what will happen with future midwife appointments, will they be face to face or via telephone.
Hope this helps
Xx
Hey
I recently had my booking appointment with my midwife over the phone then she booked me into a local child's centre the week after for my bloods and urine sample but it might varie from area to area x
I think in most areas they are trying to minimise contact appointments so they are rolling a few into one. I’ve had my 16 week midwife appointment , 20 week scan and whooping cough jab all rolled into one appointment. Best thing to do would be to call your midwife and ask her to explain their new procedures/appointments during Covid xx
