Defrosting breast milk

PrincessGurn1984 profile image

When I defrost breast milk from the freezer I put it in the fridge to thaw. It always looks ‘bitty’ once defrosted. I understand this can be the fat separation and you can swirl it in a bottle to help it but I still find it’s super super bitty. Can babies drink it like that? Is it ok? X

Totally normal. Issue if the fat doesn't "disolve" is I finds the nipple gets clogged. I shake when I get this. Are you warming or serving cold?Best wishes!

He likes it cold out the fridge once it’s defrosted, is that ok? I shake and swirl it but the bits remain. Worried he might find it hard to digest or swallow? X

yes that’s fine :) as you said it’s just the components of it all x

Are the bits too ‘chunky’ for a baby to digest? I know they’re tiny bits but do look very floaty of sorts x

just give it a swirl or shake. If you think about it it all just goes into their tummy where the stomach acid is :) it’s just the fat to help them grow.
