After a long 4.5 years we found out we were surprisingly pregnant at 11 weeks. We have had 2 scans, one emergency in hospital due to pain and one at 13 weeks under NHS like normal.
Neither scan we have been able to hear the heartbeat as they said the machines there didn't let them do so. When will be the time we will hear this ??? Hubby doesn't want to miss it !!!!
Also on separate note people who have anxiety and/or infertility did you get any private scans to ease the mind. I am 15 weeks tomorrow and just so worried in case little one isn't ok....
Thanks

Congrats! You won’t hear the heartbeat until your 16 week midwife appt at the earliest x
I had a consultant appointment around 15 weeks (due to being older) and he let me listen to the heartbeat 😍 I have been a mix of very nervous (first 20 weeks) and off and on nervous (20 weeks until now, 36 weeks) across my whole pregnancy, due to so many years of no success followed at last by a surprise positive text in the autumn. I found having regular scans helped me loads, so I've basically not gone more than 4 weeks without having either an NHS scan (@13, 20, 32 and 36 weeks) or private scan. Some people go even more regularly! It all depends though, some people find lots of scans make them more anxious, as they get so worked up before one it seems counter-productive to do it. If a scan helps you, and you stay feeling quite positive for a while after, I'd say go for it. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy 😍🎊🎉 xx
I did get a few private scans in between NHS ones.
I found I had to limit them 2nd pregnancy though, as they were causing me so much anxiety.
With both my pregnancies I asked the midwife at our 16 week appointment to listen to the heartbeat and I recorded it. If the MW can't hear it at 16 weeks it doesn't mean there's a problem, may just the hard to find the right position. We agreed if she couldn't hear it we'd book a private reassurance scan. I haven't asked to hear the heartbeat since then because as soon as you start to feel movement that's all the reassurance you need
we heard ours first time with nhs at 16 week midwife appointment (it was a Doppler not scan) but it was just me at that point due to covid. We had already heard it by that point though as we went for private scans at 10 and 14 weeks. I also went a few times after that as well private scans despite being on monthly scans with nhs from 20 weeks due to red path as it was an IVF baby and it helped reassure me. Was worth the £60 each time for a few weeks of peace of mind xx
With both of my pregnancies I didn’t hear the heart beat as early as that. When you’re further along the midwife was a little machine and you’ll be able to hear it at your midwife appointments. At this stage baby is still small so it’s hard to pick up. I’m pretty sure I didn’t hear it on early scans - could definitely see it though.
My anxiety was through the roof with both of mine as pregnancy hasn’t been an easy journey for us, we did private scans with one of them. If I remember rightly you’ll only have 1 more with the NHS and that’s it until baby arrives.
You’ve just got to take it easy, relax and listen to your body. I know it’s hard but that was the advice everyone gave me!
