It looks like old blood to me, if you've just started birth control it can make your periods different for a bit,it doesn't look like a miscarriage to me,they're are normal fresh blood, with lots of pain and having bleeding. If you're concerned or have having bleeding and severe pain maybe call 111 and get checked over.
