I have my first 12 week scan tomorrow, it says it is US Obstetric Nuchal dating scan, is this just an ultrasound scan? Also it doesn’t say to go with a full bladder but I thought we are meant to?
I had my booking appointment via telephone 2 weeks ago and she sent a book with all my notes. It also has a slip about a urine sample so I guess I’m doing that tomorrow too!
Will we have to pay for the scan pictures and can we get as many as we want or just the one?
This is my first pregnancy so wondered if anyone could say what happens at the appointment etc
Thanks in advance xx

The 12 week scan is to date your pregnancy so it might change from the date you've calculated from your last missed period.
If you've consented to the downs syndrome etc tests, they'll also measure baby's nuchal fold which alongside your blood test will be able to tell you whether baby is high or low risk.
Each trust is different in what they charge for photos so you'll need to check with your sonographer. I'd take cash and card, they used to only take cash, but our trust only take cards now post covid.
There's a whole section on the nhs website about the scan for more information:
