Hi - i have received two appointment letters back to back. One is with the “midwife episode” when i will be 9 weeks pregnant and the second is with “obstetrics” when i will be 13 weeks pregnant. Would i be right in thinking the second is for my first ultrasound?

Yes, the first one will most likely be the on boarding and admin where they make you wee in a pot and ask all the questions about your medical history. The second one should be your 12 week scan. At one of these appointments, they'll take your blood. Enjoy. It will be the first of many

Yes, you are absolutely right. The first appointment will take place with your midwife, when you will produce an urine sample, then have your weight, blood pressure and bloods taken. They will also check your blood group, and ask questions about your conception, pregnancy, family support etc. You 13 week appointment will be your first ultrasound, when the sonographer/doctor will check your baby's heartbeat, spine, brain etc, and assess the risk of your baby having any syndromes. At the end of the ultrasound, they will issue a report with all the information they have collected from you and the scan, and check if your placenta lies externally or internally. You will not be able to see the gender yet since you will have another scan at 20 weeks. Hope everything goes well for you!
