Anyone had the Covid vaccine and completed pregnancy?

Hi there, I know…another vaccine post!

I’m wondering if there are any people here who have had the vaccine and completed pregnancy/given birth?

Not asking about side effects during pregnancy (sorry read so many posts on this already!😬) I’m more interested in neonatal outcomes.

I have read all the websites and studied all the data from the US. Generally it looks very hopeful but there’s a huge lack of data on births. I understand more data will be released end of July. Maybe it’s still early days for many people on here but thought I’d ask anyway! Thank you! 😊

I have not personally but I thought you may find this helpful (I think it is the best we have so far): nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/n... xx

Thank you, yes I’ve read this. Unfortunately I think it is the best info we have online at the moment! 827 completed pregnancies (712 live births) out of over 100,000+ is not much data (for me anyway 😅) still I suppose it’s positive so far xx

Agreed not much to go on! But what I take from this is if there are going to be adverse outcomes due to the vaccine and we need 1,000s of births to see them, they are going to be rare and less of a concern that getting COVID itself in pregnancy. The point anti-vaxers miss is that it is not just whether the vaccine is unsafe, but whether it is safer (or less unsafe) than the disease itself. xx

Yes totally. I am not anti-vax, I will take it after giving birth, but that’s only because I work from home and able to take precautions for the next few months so I am not worried about getting COVID.xx

For sure, I wasn’t meaning to imply you were anti-vax 🙂 xx

But don’t you want your baby to be vaccinated also? We are seeing more and more babies dying from covid - check out Brazil for example

No… They don’t vaccinate babies against Covid (or children under 12) here in the UK, as the risk for children here is extremely low.

Yes Brazil has been unusual with more babies and children affected, but I read that is due to higher poverty and comorbidities. Also Brazil has one of the highest number of cases in the world.

They don’t vaccinate babies or children under 12 anywhere. But by getting the vaccination while pregnant your baby will also be vaccinated is my point. None of us know the long terms effects that babies and children who get COVID will have despite not having symptoms.

None of us know the long term effects that babies and children will have after the vaccination either. That's why my original post is asking if anyone has any experience being vaccinated and have given birth already.

As the vaccine is not approved for babies and children, I have been waiting for more data. I totally respect other people if they get the vaccine. Everybody's risk of getting COVID is very different depending on their living situation.

I've had both my Pzizer ones but I'm not due until September, had my 28 week scan because of gestational diabetes and all was looking good, I've seen quite a few ladies on here who are pregnant saying they've had it, but not many who were in late pregnancy.

There's a couple of pages I follow on Facebook called UK Breastfeeding support and also the Nappy Lady pregnancy, baby and parenting group which are both fairly large predominantly mummy groups and im my experience really kind supportive groups.

If you posted your question their you might get a bigger response, I've seen lots of vaccine questions there and lots of pregnant woman in late stage pregnancy saying they've had it, so I expect some will have given birth by now and can probably give you some more info 😁

I'm still pregnant, but earlier this month two of my friends gave birth to two beautiful healthy babies after having one dose of vaccine.

I had my first dose of Pfizer at 39+4 weeks. Gave birth at 40+2 weeks and we are both doing well. Baby is now 15 days old and no side effects for either of us except my arm ached a bit the days after (but I had that with the flu jab as well).

Thats great news, congrats on the arrival of your baby :) I would probably have my first dose in the third trimester x

Thank you! I had a long chat with my midwife before I made the decision which was really helpful.
