Please help. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have just been told by the sonographer that I have fibroids! I asked questions but she said the GP can talk to me about it!
Has anyone got/ had fibroids? What are the implications for pregnancy? Are there any things I can do to reduce the fibroids or implications?
Hiya, I have/had 13 fibroids when pregnant with my now 2 year old daughter. I was put on aspirin daily from week 12 to week 35 and received more scans from week 22 to check they were behaving. I was very big and I didn’t feel kicks as strongly as I would of without them but thankfully I was very much looked after and gave birth to a healthy baby by emergency c section at 35 weeks. It was very worrying and made it a high risk pregnancy but having the extra monitoring and scans really helps. Your midwife will be able to talk you through it all and they will more than likely allocate you a consultant during the pregnancy to keep an eye on things for you. Good luck and congratulations any other questions feel free to ask xx
Hi Smithy1981,Thank you so much for your response. I've been anxious the whole way through as I'm a worrier. Now hearing this but not getting any further information has been frustrating because what does it actually mean. Hearing your story has been very reassure.
Thank you so much. Also, congratulations on your daughter. Xx
I know, luckily for me I already knew I had them and was the reason why I wasn’t conceiving so she is my miracle baby and as a result is a spoilt little madam but we wouldn’t have it any other way. But yes scream and shout and make sure you write down all that you want to know. It’s really bad that no one has reached out to you as I also worry about everything and my anxiety was sky high during this pregnancy with it being lockdown at the time and the 13 fibroids. Thank you for your kind words and don’t be afraid to speak out it’s actually more common than I realised xx
I love that for you! Yessssss, we believe in miracles. Wow! I'm so glad you made it through.
So I've been reading but I was ignorant of this up until yesterday. I will be contacting the midwives for more information. Again, thank you for your knowledge and positivity. Xx
I am 10 weeks and had my first scan yesterday. The obstetrician told me I had one large fibroid but was totally unconcerned. Apparently they're very common and the only reason it might be an issue is if I end up needing a C section, the doctors will need to be aware of its location in case they have to go in at a different angle. He said if I have a vaginal birth it shouldn't cause problems at all. He did also say it can cause some pain in pregnancy but hasn't so far, so will probably be fine. So I think talk to your GP and ask about it at your next scan but in the meantime, it's probably nothing to worry about
Hi....I also found out I had fibroid in my first pregnancy, never knew about it. Not much you can do except your antenatal appointments may increase to make sure the growth is not affecting your baby
