Morning after pill/smear test

Morning ladies!

Just a quick question for peace of mind…

I had to take the morning after pill last Saturday (yes I know I should be on contraception). I’m 5 months post partum.

On Tuesday just passed I got my first ever smear test done.

On Thursday and Friday I was bleeding (almost like a period but just wasn’t soaking pads).

My question is - will it be the morning after pill or smear test that caused the bleeding? Or both?

Have your periods come back yet? Morning after pill can mess with things but your only 5months pp so it can take a while for everything to settle down after having baby anyway. A smear could cause some spotting rather that a full on bleed so I’d say it’s more than likely hormonal x

Yes! They came back 8 weeks post partum - pretty much as soon as I stopped breastfeeding.

I did think it was hormonal, it does say taking the morning after pill can cause irregular bleeding up until you have your next period.

I only finished my period a week passed Friday so it can’t be that. I think it’s just the hormones from and the poking and prodding lol. X

Its unlikely to be the smear that would only cause a bit of spotting soon after. Most likely the morning after pill. They are dreadful things I took one and my periods went berserk for months on end. Constantly bleeding in between periods. It lasted a good 6/7 months. Doctors were at a loss to explain it but I know its happened to others. They just said the large amount of hormones can confuse your cycle.

Yeah I’m thinking it is that too. Thanks for letting me know - it’s been a bloody nightmare! Being only 5 months PP probs doesn’t help either 😭 Hope you’re all ok now. Xx
