Am I doing something wrong?

Not feeling any movements yet and I’m 19 weeks and a couple of days. I’ve only felt like 3 distinguishable movements but still not 100% sure it was the baby. I’m starting to feel like somethings wrong. What should I do?

Hey there dear

In pregnancy one can never be certain however trust those mother instincts and get checked out immediately,no to scare you but you can never be too relaxed when there's a life growing inside.

Wishing you well.

It is possible you have an anterior placenta but they'll only be able to confirm that at your 20 week scan. I have and my movements have only been "movements" and not flutters since 27 / 28 weeks. I agree it's good to get checked though and hopefully your midwife can use a doppler to listen for a heartbeat and put your mind at ease x

I had an anterior placenta and it took until much later to have sensations that were definitely baby movements

I didn't feel movement till after twenty weeks with my first, and it didn't feel like what I would have thought of as 'kicks'. At first it just felt like pops, maybe like popcorn popping inside me is the closest I could describe it as, they're still relatively small and surrounded in water so they still have a fair amount of space to move around without kicking you. Hopefully your midwife can check you over and give you some reassurance xx

With my first I didn't feel any movements until around 22/23 weeks. I felt it much earlier with my second. I think some of this I was more aware of what it felt like earlier on and position of the placenta and different positions of baby make all the difference. Good luck for your scan!

I am also 19 weeks and not sure at all if it is movements I am feeling - can’t say for sure 😇 My first pregnancy. Sometimes I think I can feel a different sensation in lower belly, almost like a vibration, but so subtle, which is making me think it may or may not be. I also have a really strong pulse sensation from my aorta at the moment, which I feel is disturbing all the trying to feel for movement, as all I can feel is my own pulse when I am trying to concentrate on it 😇 I am hoping too it is all normal and that I just will feel movements later on. I have my scan next Wednesday, and get so much anxiety before scans.. I can feel it building already! So I know it is going to be a long week. I am glad you got an appointment if you really feel worried.

I just wanted to wish you all the best for Monday!! I hope your scan goes well 🥰

Omg I’m exactly the same. I can’t sleep at all a few days before a scan or appointment. I get so anxious and just want everything to be ok. I’m a person who is quick to overthink or panic so I’m trying to stay calm. I spoke to my GP yesterday and he told me that because this is my first pregnancy it can be hard to distinguish the feeling of the baby moving.

Good luck for Wednesday, I hope everything is ok with your little one ❤️🥰 I’m sure we’re just overthinking it 😂 let me know how it goes x

Yes, also an overthinker over here 🙄 So I am sure - and hope you are right 🥰 Always seems to think worst case scenario too, so planning to listen to some mindfulness apps this week 😇🥰

Glad your GP could reassure - so hopefully it is just because it is such a new feeling.

Very excited to see the little one again, but also petrified - like you say, we just want it all to be ok! Yes, will let you know! Be thinking of you Monday and hopefully all will be well 🥰💫

Like others have said I didn’t feel anything until 21/22 weeks, I remember watching him kicking at my 20 week scan and really concentrating to see if I could feel him but felt nothing, when I did start to feel movement, it’s obvious that’s what it is because it’s like no other feeling! Good luck 🥰

I didn’t feel much movement at 19 weeks. I always thought I could feel something but was never sure. So I carried out a poll for women at 18-19 weeks to see how many women could feel movements. Surprisingly half the women hadn’t felt anything at all. I’ve attached the poll results for you x

It’s a poll

I've had 3 pregnancies, all successful, and didn't feel any movements till 24 weeks, 20 weeks and 21 weeks. By all means, play it safe and discuss with your midwife, but dont stress yourself out in the meantime x
