I am super anxious this evening so wondering if anyone can shed any light...
I am 26 weeks pregnant after a successful ICSI cycle. I had multiple chemicals prior to this one so I am very anxious anyway
This evening my midwife called to let me know I have a UTI but she had to wait until tomorrow to sort out a doctors consult and then get a course of antibiotics. I actually haven’t had any symptoms - my stomach has been a bit sore the last few days but I thought it could be down to growing pains and the uti was only picked up after a normal midwife checkup.
My concern is that I don’t know how long I’ve had the infection - my midwife app was last Tuesday so it has taken a week for them to diagnose it and now I’m worried it could harm my baby or I could go into early labour (I know, I know I sound crazy!)
The rationale side of my brain tells me if it was a concern my midwife would have asked me to go to hospital this evening.
Has anyone had a uti in pregnancy and everything been ok?
Thank you!

Meee 🙋♀️ started hurting New Year’s Eve, got antibiotics that day, was much better by the next day. I was worried cause there was a pink smear on the tissue but it was just cause of the irritation inside. All cleared up fine, and soon realised it’s really common and once the antibiotics have kicked in (I set my alarm in the middle of the night to get another dose in as I wanted it to kick in quickly!) it will be fine. Don’t worry just drink lots of water to try and flush it out too 😀 x
Hey there 😊 I’ve had two - first was around 15w and I had symptoms. The back pain was so bad I thought it ‘had’ to be something worse i.e. kidney infection. The second was last week at 26w and I didn’t know - like you it was picked up at my routine midwife appt. and only over the weekend did I realise I must have one l due to the amount of times I was getting up. Both have been cleared up with a weeks worth of antibiotics. I hope that helps you
You could always ask your midwife what signs to look for if it was a kidney infection and get her reassurance that it’s not this time.
Yes I had one fairly early on in my pregnancy but had all the signs! It took me about a week to get antibiotics too because I tried to flush it out which usually works for me. I’d have a day of no symptoms and thought great it’s gone and then it came back the next day with vengeance! A week of antibiotics and it was gone. You’ll be fine! I think the main concerns are if it moves to your kidneys which I’m sure you’d know about - I think people tend to get bad back/flank pain and bleeding with that. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x
Poor you UTI are horrible really painful. I had one at the end of my pregnancy with my daughter Francesca and she is fine. I had mine for a week before it was diagnosed too and did no harm. Are you getting regular movements as that is a good sign that baby is healthy. If you are concerned your maternity department could give you a scan to put your kind at ease. It is very hard being pregnant after losses ( I've had 2 chemical pregnancies and a loss at 20 weeks pregnant) but UTI are extremely common in pregnancy particularly the last trimester. I'm sure your baby is fine Xx
