Labor
Have you spoken to your midwife? Maybe you could go over your concerns with her about your last experience and why you're so scared this time. You might find having a detailed birth plan and knowing what you can control during the process and what you can do to make your labour less stressful. Perhaps you could try a hypnobirthing course, they're meant to be really helpful too. Good luck x
Honestly nothing seems to help i have tries but i think my anxiety gets best of me, plus my partner hasnt exactly turned out to be the man i thought he was i just dont know how to get through sorry i know its depressing im sp scared im 39 weeks xx
I was! Although my 1st birth wasn’t terrible compared to some, it was for me!I’ve suffered anxiety leading up to my 2nd birth, I went 8 days over and was induced, it was very quick and I didn’t have time for pain relief but overall it wasn’t as bad and a lot quicker!
My issues were the pain and exhaustion, I wish I’d planned my pain relief better as once it all started my lb wasn’t waiting...
Hey hun! I’m currently 6 days overdue and I’m getting so fed up! I was really anxious and scared leading up to it but now that I’m overdue I’m just really not even thinking of it anymore I just want him here lol! I hope all goes well for you xx
I would strongly recommend pregnancy yoga. It involves deep breathing and helps with everyday aches and pains. I did it twice a day for 10-20 minutes throughout 2nd and 3rd trimester. It’s not too late to start. The breathing helped me enormously throughout labour. My pain threshold is low so I was expecting the pain to be unbearable. I got through Labour with a TENS machine. I’ve heard that water births are an effective method of pain relief and there are other pain relief methods available to you. Do what is right but my biggest advice is BREATHE through it. I have anxiety too. Try to think of your baby when anxiety is taking over. Try to imagine delivering your baby and feeling calm and passing the calm onto your baby. When you are having contractions try to focus on the timings. I used the stopwatch on my phone and it was a good distraction. Wishing you all the luck in the world xx
I found it more daunting the second time too, as you have more of an idea what you are letting yourself in for. Have you looked into hypnobirthing techniques? I hear really good things
Hi, there's a page called positive birth company that has lots of information that can help you change your mindset about it. I recommend reading some of the positive birth stories, listen to the positive affirmations (I think you can download them for free from the website) and watching their videos in YouTube. Hopefully it will feel a bit less scary and you'll be able to see it more like you're about to meet your little one.I know it can feel very daunting, especially if your first experience wasn't nice but the oxytocin your body produces once labour starts is an amazing pain relief, so managing to be relatively calm will already make it so much easier.
Best of luck xx
You are not alone! I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my second and I'm terrified. I ended up with an emergency C-section after a long labour first time around. What it's helping me is talking with my midwife and hoping for the best. Reading the "Positive Birth Book" helped too. Wishing you luck and please try to stay calm
