Breast rejected

My baby is 7 weeks old. She doesn’t want to take my left side breast sudenly. She is sucking snd stopping until she became nervous.

I’m only breastfeeding. Could someone tell me what to do in this case?

Many thanks.

She sounds like she's trying to up your supply, so probably just fairly normal behaviour. They pull on and off and get very cross with it, it's frustrating because it feels like you're doing something wrong but baby is telling boob what she needs.Sometimes though babies have a boob preference, my little girl favours my right boob and uses the left one when she had to!

Some babies really favour a boob, my friends little boy only ever used one of her boobs and would refuse the other one all the time, she exclusively breast fed for over two years, just from one boob, hopefully your girl is just fussing but if she'll only take from one boob, that boob can produce everything she needs xx

My lb preferred one side too, my midwife said that when they have a preference feeding on the other side is like using your knife and fork in the wrong hands, made so much sense to me! She suggested feeding in the rugby ball position on the least preferred side so that baby's head is turning the same way to feed off both sides which really worked for us x

She might have a bit of a stiff neck on one side and that's why she prefers the other boob. The rugby position mentioned is good. I'd also try to get her to stretch her neck by showing her a toy and getting her to follow it to the other side, hopefully that will help. You could see if thees any baby massage you could do as well on YouTube. And also totally randomly, has a she been checked for a tongue tie, that can affect feeding sometimes. Hope she'll feed okay soon x
