Soothing Sore Bits!!

Currently 32 weeks pregnant and I’ve got quite sore lady bits, I thought it was possible a strange sort of chafing that I’d never had before as I’ve done a lot of walking this weekend, but I’ve just had a look in the mirror and I’m quite swollen down there, I’ve read about engorged swelling down below as a result of an increase in pressure from the baby. Does anyone have any soothing remedies, is it safe to use something like vagisil?

I would get checked out with your midwife just and see if they have any recommendations.I wouldn't use any creams until you know what's causing it, except maybe some Sudocreme or Vaseline.

Hi, my wife is fast asleep or I would ask her the name of the prescription product she used. It’s actually a very sensitive cream designed for babies skin so should be ok for your sensitive bits. I’m sure your midwife will know or call nhs direct. For external use like chaffed thighs, cuts sore skin we swear by Sudocream, but it’s external only and probably not suitable. I used nearly a pot after wearing a Hawaiian style string skirt in a sponsored 12 mile cot push! Lol. Definitely not worth mucking about get it looked at. All the best with your pregnancy.

The reality re vagisil is this will not have been studied in pregnancy so can't say if it's safe or not. It will not make the swelling go down though as that's likely for baby pressing down. In general try to rest, put your legs up. You could try cold compresses. I had this with all three... It tends to.come and go depending on baby being very low or not.

It’s probably hormonal changes . Drink lots of water so things don’t get dry but do check with midwife
