Looking for some advice please. I went for a reassurance scan today ... wasn’t reassuring! I am just under 8 weeks from LMP but the scan showed that I am 6 weeks, we saw a heartbeat and the Sonographer didn’t seem that worried, she said my dates could be wrong and I ovulated later. And that everything looked fine for 6 weeks. Being 6 weeks pregnant does actually match to the time of OV as I’ve been tracking for months so know when it occurred but is obviously around 2 weeks out from LMP. I’m really worried, which I know doesn’t help, as I had a long drawn out MMC this time last year. don’t know what to think

8 week Scan showing 2 weeks behind
Hello,

Hi!
There is a two week window for when you could have ovulated. It is very common for this to happen, I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant but was only 6.5. I wouldn't be worried at all xxx
I had a scan at 6 and 8 weeks and was told the same and I know I had my dates correct, I was so worried but by 12 weeks the baby was measuring the length it should x
I thought I was 8 weeks and then found out I was 6. I’ve just had a healthy and positive 12 week scan so try not to worry x
As long as it continues to grows to the weeks you are from now it’s fine.
If you've seen a heartbeat, it's a good sign. Don't get too hung up on exact dates as I thought I knew when I ovulated/conceived and my scan changed my EDD by a week.
I had the opposite: very regular cycle and known dates, went for the 12-wk scan and was told I am 13wks. Which basically means I have ovulated when really I was still bleeding. The 2 scans said the same thing (one private and one NHS, done one week apart). All I can conclude is that there are 2 unknowns: 1) you don't always ovulate on the same day of your cycle (14 days before the next period is a very one-size-fits-all number that's just not true) and 2) scans can be quite inaccurate, eventhough the earliest ones are supposed to be the most accurate. Oh and 3) fertilization doesn't occur on the day of ovulation but likely one or two days after. So I wouldn't worry about the dates at all - all that matters is that you saw a heartbeat and the sonographer said everything looks fine!
It really does depend on when you ovulate. I have a 34 day period usually, sometimes 35+, and ovulate around day 21, so even though I would be classed 7 weeks and 2 days pregnant, my scan showed 6 weeks 2 days, because I ovulate later. Are you going back for another scan in a couple of weeks? And what's it a strong heartbeat?
