I am 34 weeks and 4 days preg and a day ago my water breaks down and I came in hospital and they give me 2 injections for lungs maturity for the baby and baby’s heart beat and his everything looks good and doctors gave me antibiotic to avoid infection and they will discharge me from hospital today unless if I bleed or start having contractions. I am feeling very vulnerable and v stressed and idea of going home and waiting is stressful too and I am still leaking amniotic fluid and a day ago when my water breaks that day it was like a tap open for 6 hours and from that time till now all the time off and on. Is there someone whose water breaks before 37 weeks and they don’t feel contractions and doctors suggest them to wait and they are okay please text me and support me as I am really panicking

My waters broke at about 35 weeks and I phoned and said 'I think my waters have broke' and midwife asked about pain and I said I don't have any so she told me to basically call back if I have bleeding/ pain etc It was my first child so I waited. Then I remember contractions started- pain every 5 minutes. I phoned again and told them and they told me to take paracetamol and call back if it gets worse! I was in pain whole night then by 8 am I told my husband take me to hospital as I was angry and frustrated as the pain was every 5 minutes. I waited 4 hours to be seen and it was a Thursday. Finally they saw me and checked me and said I'll have baby by Monday and kept me in hospital. Well, I had my beautiful baby the next day At 7.30pm!If I had listened to them and stayed home god knows what would have happened as during labour I lost a lot of blood. So please if you don't feel safe going home voice your concerns to them.

Hi, my friends waters broke at 20 weeks, she carried the baby to 30 weeks. Drink plenty of fluids, your waters will come back but probably will continue to leak. Only have showers and don’t wash with soap down there. Try and stay calm and relax, I know it’s easier said than done, but stressing won’t help you or the baby. If baby is born now, baby will be fine. Just rest and take care xx

My waters broke at 32 weeks huni, I had the same thing done as you I was in 4 times a week for monitoring of baby and checks for infection my little girl held in there till 36 weeks and was a healthy 6lb. I know it’s a very scary time huni but try to stay relaxed and express all concerns with doctors.

Hi Shia, my water broke the exact same day as yours. I live abroad though and they wouldn’t discharge me until I gave birth, I did do a lot of reading and discovered that the baby is fine without amniotic fluid. I am sure that you have also read this.

How are you feeling today? I’m sure you were in shock when your water broke. Is there any fluid left inside?

I know someone whose waters broke around 37 weeks. She had no contractions, they called hospital who wanted her in to induce labour if baby all well, or caesarean if necessary. She refused and ended up going in just over 42 weeks and delivered a little boy who was fine. No way would I endorse this, your Dr. seems to know what they are doing, I just wrote to say yes I have seen it and baby was fine. It does happen sometimes. I hope all goes well for you and the time goes quickly.
