Hi everyone,

This is my 1st pregnancy. I've contacted my GP and let them know and they sent me a link to self referral to one of hospital near by. I recieved a letter from the midwife from the hospital for an appointment over the phone. Just wondering if that is normal? I read online some appointment and tests need to be done before 10 weeks. I am not sure how many weeks I am because my period was all over the place and my last period was like on 2nd Feb. But when I took my pregnancy tests it showed 2-3 weeks (that was like almost 2 weeks ago). This is all confusing, it scares and worries me at the same time. So I wanted some advice from you guys here.

They are doing them over the phone doe to the virus. They will probably send you your scan and screening appointment or call you with them. You will probably need to attend alone thou. As long as you have them before 13 weeks you should be fine xxx

Thank you for your reply!

Yeah, I read that need to attend alone for scans etc appointments.

The problem is I have no idea how many weeks I am which kind of worries me.

When was the 1st day of your last period?

It was 2nd of February.. but I think I missed a period or my period got delayed because I was on antibiotics and in hospital for 2 days end of February as I had scarlet fever. So this is all so confusing.

If it was 2nd feb that would make you 11 weeks +2 today.

Thanks for calculating.

When I called my GP to speak to my doctor last week.. the doctor said to be in contact with midwife so they can find out how many weeks I am exactly which they usually can tell with a scan right? But now I have phone appointment which won't be too helpful because they can't do any tests. Too many thoughts in my mind right now.

Well the midwife will calculate a date by using the first day of the last period. They will also date via a scan. When is your call from midwife?

Yeah I know. Just think it's not accurate for me.

Phone appointment with the midwife is next week 28th of April.

If you’re concerned about missing tests because of how far on you could be I would ring the community midwife number for your local hospital and ask them to book you in sooner x

Hi lovely, this was exactly the same position I found myself in as well. I took a pregnancy test on 10th of March and that already showed 3+ weeks. I don’t have regular periods (haven’t had one since last year) so this test is the only indicator I’ve had to work from. The midwife did my initial booking in appointment over the phone and said that all bloods etc will be taken at my first scan which is 18th of May. Which I estimate I’ll be around 14 weeks then (but who knows). I’ve paid for a private dating scan (clinics are still open in my area if you attend alone) if that’s an option for you which may put your mind at ease!! I know how frustrating it is not knowing how far along you are but you’ve got this! Good luck xx
