I don’t fear it because it is not dangerous and it is very common. Firstly, it can’t strangle your baby because your baby isn’t breathing via its lungs but is receiving everything it needs to still from the cord. Then the veins in the cord are really well protected so that they will keep giving your baby what it needs. Xxx

I didn't even think about it if I'm honest. I had a lot of confidence in my midwives and they were so on the ball when they're monitoring you and baby. If you're concerned speak to your midwife at your next appointment and see how the look for and deal with it, she may be able to put your mind at ease about it.

My son was born with part of his cord wrapped around his neck. The thing is just before he was born his heart rate was unusual so there reckon it had affected it. Before this his heart rate had been been fine all the time. It was a good job I was there to be induced at the time and I think it did extend my labour time. My son is fine now although the whole of the labour had been traumatic.

It never usually amounts to anything I've had 4 children (One angel)pregnant again And it rarely happens it happened to one of mine but they got out of it babies actually play with their cord and everything that is where they get all their food from and any emotional needs the cord is their to protect your baby you will be monitored all the way through ultrasounds are not just for finding out the sex they are to establish the health of the umbilical cord

My eldest son was born with the cord wrapped twice around his neck, he is completely okay, he is 20yrs old now and at uni, try not to stress about something that's out of your control, its very common for babies to be born with the cord wrapped around the neck and they are just fine.

I second the commenters, saying it is pretty common and cannot hurt the baby in the womb. I myself was born with cord wrapped around my neck, 36 and going 😁. The chances that it might be problematic during birth is so minuscule, that I would not even consider it. They are monitoring the baby all the time in birth, don't worry, take care of yourself, it is very important
