Midwife appointments at specific milestones

I was just wondering how important it is to ensure that you have your midwife appointments at specific points in your pregnancy. I'm 32 weeks and am booked in for my next appointment at 34+1 weeks, depending on what happens with lockdowns we have booked to go to Tenby for our last holiday as a 2 before becoming a 3 on the same week. Would it be an issue if I was to move this appointment for the previous/following week or is it advisable during your 3rd trimester to try and have your appointments after specific milestones?

I would say if you're happy with babies movements and feel good in yourself, then moving an appointment isn't too bad, but I wouldn't cancel them completely. Maybe speak to your midwife and see if she could fit you in before you go away or just after you get back.

So how many weeks will you be when you go in holiday?? You mention becoming 3 on the same week, does mean 39+?

Honestly I think its a bit crazy to go away on holiday at that point... Depending on how far you are from your hospital. Anything from 37 weeks is considered full term, as in baby might make its way, so I would want to be in driving distance of where I want to give birth.

They go on holiday the same week as the appointment, not the same week they become a 3, so she'd be 34 weeks. They're only going to Tenby, so I think even if she did go into labour early, they could get medical attention easily. Although with Wales going onto a lockdown the holiday might be off anyways 😁

I thought she meant they're going on the same week that they become 3, rather than the week of the appointment 😅. Yes I'm sure you could get medical attention (although no idea how far away the closest hospital with a maternity unit is to Tenby).

Also if they're not Welsh, baby might be! They might have a little Welsh dragon🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ❤️

Yeah so I would have been in my 34th week going away. With this lockdown announcement now I can't go anyway so I was worrying about nothing. We live in Monmouthshire so when we were booking our week away we wanted to make sure that we booked something in Wales just in case she came early - got to keep her options open so she can play for Wales some day :D

Through out my Pregnancy I haven’t seen my midwife much due to covid. I’m now at the end of my pregnancy but she just stated if I felt anything was wrong then to call the numbers in your book they give you with your notes.

Saw my midwife at 10wks , 28wks, 36wks and yesterday 19th Oct was my due date but I’ve gone over and still waiting. so next time I see her if I need to, is to arrange to be induced if need be.

Around my 28wk appointment tho I had to get checked for gestational Diabetes as my bump was measuring bigger but it all came back fine the results.
