Pregnancy pillows?

Morning everyone, I’m just after a bit of advice really on pregnancy pillows and any positive feedback on the ones you’ve bought? What sort of money have you spent on one etc?

I’ve been looking at various different types like the long sausage ones you can lean on and put your head on, and the U shaped ones which wrap around you on either side to avoid you moving on to your back.

I have a very weak back and it’s already beginning to ache so I’m thinking of investing in a pillow sooner rather than later and hopefully it will be a support after baby arrives too.

Any recommendations and advice would be greatly appreciated x

So I havent used it myself but I'm planning on buying a Bbhugme. It isn't cheap at £130, but I've heard great things about it. It was designed by 5 chiropractors so could be good for your back. You can use it afterwards as a feeding pillow and to sleep with when when baby is here. Good luck.

Thanks! Do let me know what it’s like once you’ve bought it :)

I’ve got the bbhugme one and it’s brilliant! I got really bad sciatica pain early on in my pregnancy and it went completely away as soon as I started sleeping with this pillow. Worth every penny xx

I have the Bbhug me- it’s my second pregnancy and I just had the dream genii first time around and there’s honestly no comparison! I didn’t buy the bb hug me first time round because of the price, but even though it’s pricey it’s definitely worth it for the level of comfort, it is amazing and we will use it as a baby nest and just a comfortable pillow on my bed after pregnancy xx

Hey, I bought one last week, it’s a C shaped PharmaMeDoc about £45 from Amazon. It’s taken a couple of nights to get used to but it’s really comfortable, especially because it supports my back on either sides.

I bought one of the huge u shaped ones for about £35. It felt brilliant when I first got in but I couldn’t stand it after the first night. I was boiling and felt a bit smothered. I bought one of the long rectangle ones to replace it. It was about a tenner off amazon and I loved it! Still use it now and my little boy is 6 weeks 😂

Definitely a personal preference thing but I’d be reluctant to spend too much as you might not like it when it arrives!

Definitely a good point. I’m sure it’s down to personal preference and I definitely don’t want to feel smothered! I’ll have a look around and avoid spending too much.

I got a U shape one from Amazon and I loved it. I'd still use it now if my husband hadn't packed it away, relieved that he could have a bit more of the bed back now baby is here 😂

I was debating a U shaped one as this will support me on either side. Just thinking it will take up loads of room in the bed 😂

They’re about £45 from what I’ve seen. Does that sound similar to what you paid?

I got one called a niimo pillow off amazon its u-shaped..they do different sizes too....its good for support and not expensive, like someone said above pregnancy pillows are v.much personsal preference so to go really expensive may not benefit you if you end up not liking the pillow xxx

I have the BB hug me pillow and debated buying it for ages due to the cost. I brought another one previous to it and it didn’t really do much (just the long Pregnancy pillow from Aldi)

The first night using the BB hug me, I slept the whole night through and didn’t wake up at all with hip pain! I was waking up 2-3 times a night before. It was so worth the money. And we have used it every single day since my little one was born, he’s 11 months now. It was useful for breastfeeding and also great for after feeds as it helped to keep him upright when he was struggling with wind. We use it for a feeding pillow most days now when he has his bottles and it was good when he wasn’t able to fully sit up himself/was still wobbly while sitting as I would tie it around him as a bit of a chair and it saved getting loads of cushions out.

So for that reason I think it’s been good value for money for all the use we’ve had out of it.

I bought the bbhugme last week and couldn’t recommend it enough! Especially if you have back pain. Expensive but definitely worth it.

I got a Babymoov Dream belt and the maternity pillow for between my legs. It was great for me as for most of my pregnancy I was tossing and turning all night and didn't have to adjust things all the time. With the belt, it gives just enough support both sides of your bump, which meant I wasn't twisting my back or moving into it.

As I got larger though (ended up huge at 40 weeks!) I did prefer sleeping on the couch using the belt.

Post pregnancy, I got a fleecy v-shaped pillow from Argos for £17. I think I would have found that handy beforehand! This was great for breastfeeding too, if this is something you are interested in, and well after lo was 6 months old. (They always advertise nursing pillows with newborns, which is great at the time, but not when you've got a fidgety 4 month slipping off the tiny thing! )

I still use it now for supporting my back in bed and if lo is feeding. Quite firm, and a lovely comfy fleecy cover. Whole thing can go straight on the washer too.

Hope you find something to ease the back pain :)
