Hi All,

Looking for any meal/snack ideas that i can take on a day trip for my newly turned 1 year old.

We've been in since lockdown so I haven't had to think about how I would feed him on a day out but we're off to the zoo on Friday.

I always usually feed him something like avocado on toast or scrambled egg and cheese, some pasta etc for his lunch. He is still spoon fed but does eat snacks or toast etc with his hands.

The place we are going to serves takeaway food but it's stuff like chips and goujons or sandwiches and last time I gave him bread it stuck to the roof of his mouth as he hasn't got any teeth yet and it sticks to his mouth.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm new to feeding a toddler on the go lol xx

What about some pasta to take with you for lunch? My LG has always been fussy with bread so we just used to have to take cold meats, cheese, some crisps, raisens and yoghurt on a day out x

could do him a little pasta salad, like cold pasta with tuna or little bits of ham and softish veggies like avocados and tomatoes or sweet corn! Or even cous cous or rice salad? Squeezy yogurts or like the Ellas kitchen fruit pouches for dessert, crisps, pre-sliced fruit like bananas and melons, hard boiled eggs for snacks? If not bread, then maybe even wraps as the tortillas might be easier for him to tear ☺️ (100% not suggesting you take all of this but just a few portable snack and lunch suggestions!) xx

I make some little fritatas to take out with us.

I fry some onion, courgette and mushroom, then mix with eggs and grated cheese, put into a non stick pan and bake. My little one loves them, they're good for her to hold and break up herself.

I also cheat and take a pouch of fruit purees and some melty sticks or biscuits to give her, to keep her occupied.

I'll also give her a little bit of whatever I'm having that she can manage as long as it's not too salty or spicy etc.

Hi, some foods that are not too messy that I've made recently: falafel balls, burger patties, oat cookies... you can also make vegetable patties out of almost any vegetable if you mix it with flour and egg or some replacement and then fry it. Banana pancakes with blueberries is another one. Also muffins like kale and spring onion mini muffins. All recipes I've found in some book or app (I'm not that creative hehe) like the Joe wicks one or an app called baby led weaning (it's not free but there's lots of good recipes). Lamb kofta could be not too messy too.

Or to keep it simple some cooked pasta with no sauce and some boiled or steamed vegetables easy to hold like green beans for example?

Hi, bread sticks to the roof of his mouth everytime he tries to eat it. toast isn't an issue as its been toasted and isn't as sticky as bread. Thank you for your suggestions x
