I am 12+5 with a first pregnancy and normally suffer really badly with hay fever. However my normal medication (Fexofendine 180mg) isn't safe during pregnancy. I've tried cetirizine and loratadine before but neither has worked for me. I'm not sure who to go to as I won't be able to get a GP appointment with coronavirus... Do I go to the pharmacy? Text my midwife? I know everyone is super busy right now so don't want to be a burden!

Hayfever medication help!
Try the pharmacy first. Your gp will be able to deal with this via phone too. Theres a good website called bumps about medication in pregnancy.
Your GP can help you over the phone, pharmacist is unlikely to help as they don't like to give you anything when you're pregnant unless a doctor prescribes it.
I found I hardly had hay-fever at all when I was pregnant, and I usually suffer quite badly.
I used a nasal spray when I did get it badly though, as I figured that was far more localised and it worked very well for me, quicker and longer lasting than pills.
Hi, I had this with my pregnancy, I used over the counter and a nasal spray and tbh I never went back to fexofenadine as my body got used to it x
I used to take the same medication and dosage. The doctor will provide you with an alternative that is suitable to take when pregnant.
My allergies eased off when pregnant.
They may give you a telephone appointment.
Hi
I asked my midwife a few months back as I have pet allergies and was going to be staying in a house with 2 dogs for a weekend and was told that Piriton (chlorphenamine) was safe to take during pregnancy. I would contact your midwife first and then if she isn’t able to help, the pharmacy is a safe bet.
